Schools have a dual duty of care for both pupils and staff. This requires having qualified first aiders for both paediatrics and adults. As per the UK Resuscitation Council's updated guidance in September 2021, Paediatric First Aid Protocols are mandatory for individuals from infancy up to 18 years old.
This course aligns with OFSTED criteria for Early Years, satisfies the DfE requirements for all pupils, and adheres to the HSE standards for adult welfare in schools.
Note that, based on your risk assessment, there should always be someone on-site with a three-day FAW qualification.
Qualified First Aiders must undergo face-to-face practical training. Thus, this course includes 7 hours of practical training in paediatric and emergency first aid at work.
This course is suited for teachers from Early Years to Year 13, administrative and support staff, students, temporary teachers, and learners of all confidence levels.
